Chicken Feast Pizza from Domino’s Review

Succulent chicken, beautiful mushrooms, tender sweetcorn, any questions?

Domino’s Chicken Feast Pizza Review
The lads like a good pizza at the weekend and this was no exception! After a bout of rock, paper, scissors, which Bill won he decided on Domino’s. Off we trot, and scanning the menu we went for the Chicken Feast.

We opted for the stuffed crust base, as garlic and herbs would compliment the chicken on offer. It was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of browning to the cheese and the BBQ sauce base was ace (were poets and we know it). The base was fresh tasting and not too doughy and the toppings were simple as we like them, Chicken, mushrooms, sweetcorn.

The Chicken was decent though lacked a bit of flavour in our view, but worked well with the mushrooms and sweetcorn.

Pretty good and we were very satisfied.

Lotta Chocca Pizza from Domino’s Review

Our fresh 6 inch dough base topped with melted milk chocolate, to give you the perfect chocolate dessert pizza.

Domino’s Lotta Chocca Pizza Review
In a departure for our usual cheesy meaty pizzas we decided to test out the new choccy pizza. The lads were up for the challenge but we were in agreement that we were doubtful we would like it. But taking one for the team is our motto and it couldn’t be any worse than what we get dished up at our homes for our dinners.

Only 2 ingredients to worry about, chocolate and base. Did it gel, in a curious way it did though we thought the edge of the base was a little too thick for our liking but hey, it has to hold the choccy in..

The chocolate itself was awesome, a little too sweet maybe but lush all the same. so an experience we are glad we tried …

Shrimply Delicious Pizza from Pizza Hut Review

Shrimply Delicious is for sea food lovers! Diet or go all out? DO BOTH! Our mouth watering under 600 cal seafood Flatbread topped with King prawns, fresh spinach and mixed peppers.

Pizza Hut The Shrimply Delicious Pizza Review
The lads had reached the weekend and were feeling in the need of a pizza as always, the wives had been feeding us chips all week it seemed (perhaps they have secret plans to finish us off?).

So we were going to have to go down the low calorie route again. We opted for pizza but and thought a fishy treat seemed the way to go! The Shrimply Delicious caught our eye. The flatbread base is an unusual idea and to us, just didn’t work as it seemed a bit doughy. The toppings looked good and substantial and filled the pizza edge to edge. The cheese was passable, but the main theme of the pizza, the shrimp was a bit of a let down. It tasted fine but seemed a bit chewy.

When combined with the base we found it harder to get through than a weekend at the mother in laws! The other toppings were fine but didn’t float our boats. So not the best pizza we have had!

Premium Hawaiian from Papa John’s Review

Slow cooked, melt in the mouth, pulled ham hock and juicy chunks of fresh pineapple on a bed of melting mozzarella, makes this pizza the ultimate expression of Papa John’s passion for quality.

Papa John’s Premium Hawaiian Pizza Review
Summer is here the time is right for stuffing our faces with lush pizza, we were full of the joys of the season so in that mood we thought we need a summer pizza. Well Hawaiian sounds like it comes for from hot exotic places. We went for a large stuffed crust, the base was ace, as we always rate the papas.

The cheese was passable and the toppings were simple but “Premiumised” and the pineapple being fresh had a bit of bite, so forget the tasteless supermarket frozen specials from your younger days. The ham hock follows the latest trend for all ham to be the hock variety and it was tasty and tender A summer treat.

Sausage & Pepperoni – The Papa’s Favourite

This is the pizza makers pizza. We take our 100% fresh, never frozen dough, lovingly ladle on The Papa’s very own rich vine-ripened tomato sauce and then simply add his favourite toppings. Starting with our special blend of six Italian cheeses, slices of pepperoni, chunks of sausage plus a sprinkle of Italian style seasoning.

Papa John’s Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza Review
The lads were up for a midweek pizza, we had spent evenings staring at the telly with the other halves watching reality dross show that was a garbage medical drama and we were generally getting us really depressed at not being able to watch what we wanted, extreme fishing or monster trucks or martial arts, because females find it boring!

So sneaking out the house as she was crying watching TV as some guy with chronic skin problems who can’t get a date was droning on. We hooked up and headed to Papa johns! Bill really likes the dough they use so we were really up for it. Scanning the menu we settled for a real guys one – sausage and pepperoni. We were pleased indeed, the mix of cheeses was really good and was the standout for us.

And who can complain about sausage and pepperoni which was tasty and tender. Another one to remember to have again.

Tandoori Hot Pizza from Domino’s Review

Tandoori chicken, red onions, mushrooms, green and red peppers, jalapeño peppers.

Domino’s Tandoori Hot Pizza Review
Another weekend, another pizza! WE deserved it after a grim week. One day Ted was served up a Fray Bentos “all steak” tinned pie by his missus for dinner! So we grabbed the phone and ordered a Domino’s Tandoori Hot, and as a twist we had a Double Decadence base which is like a cheese and herb pizza sandwich.

As you know we are fans of the hot stuff and this pizza delivered, now it wasn’t curry house standards, but it was pretty good. The red onions, mushrooms, green and red peppers were tasty and as expected.

The jalapeño peppers added an added fire to the mix. All in all a nice one, but the base didn’t really suit the toppings. so lesson learned on that.

That’s a hot thumbs up from The Pizza Lads

Under 600 calories. Goat’s cheese, caramelised onion, spinach, red onion, tomato and garlic oil

Pizza Express Leggera Padana Pizza Review
The lads had made it to another weekend but the missuses had been nagging all week that the pizzas we have been having were starting to show around our waistlines. Now this is an occupational habit of bringing you the finest pizza reviews, and quip that they are always asking us to tighten our belts fell upon deaf ears.

So with this stinging criticism ringing in our ears we decided to go for a low calorie option. Now we were almost horrified by this thought but pizza express seemed to offer a great solution.

The leggera padana is an unfussy offering with basic flavours but with taste at least. Goat’s cheese is an acquired taste and have to say not our favourite, but we coped and the caramelised onion was a welcome addition. So while not on our regular to eat list it was passable. Perhaps our wives need to partake of a few low calorie options now and again?

A thumbs up from The Pizza Lads and a pleasant change

Domino’s tomato sauce, NEW Mexican Chilli chicken, red onions and green & red peppers, topped with a drizzle of sour cream and paprika sauce.

Domino’s Mexican Fiesta Pizza Review
The lads had made it to another weekend, fiesta time! We managed to slip out the missuses grasps and decided to celebrate with a lovely pizza from domino’s. Scanning the menu we noticed that the Mexican Fiesta was new and always up for the challenge, so we went for that one.

Now we like a bit of kick with our pizza and the Chilli chicken was perfect, a real taste sensation. The presentation was good with just the right variety of flavours with the onions and peppers, base was classic.

We went for BBQ sauce as this always brings out the flavour of chicken. The drizzle sauces were a nice addition.

A top pizza we shall have again!

Feel the kick with our spicy Veggie Hot One! Topped with mixed peppers, red onions, cherry tomatoes and extra hot green chillies.

Pizza Hut Veggie Hot One Pizza Review
After too much indulgence in scrummy pizzas the wives were starting to complain that we were looking a bit on the plump side. Now pot and kettle come to mind but being the bigger persons we held our tongues. From bitter experience we had learnt that honesty is not the best policy when it comes to a ladies size.

But it really hit home so we thought about knocking pizzas on the head, yeah right, as a compromise we decided to leave the meat off the next pizza! Now a veggie pizza isn’t our preferred option normally so we were apprehensive. The Pizza Hut Veggie Hot One was chosen. I’m afraid we were not converted, the chillies and tomatoes were not as soft as we would have liked. The overall taste was pretty OK, and the heat was just right, base and cheese lovely. So not for us but not bad at all

You must try the Papa’s flavour filled take on an American diner favourite. The Chicken Club Pizza features chargrilled chicken, stacks of bacon and sliced onions with chunks of freshly diced tomatoes for an extra splash of colour and taste.

Papa John’s Chicken Club Pizza Review
The lads were gagging for a pizza as usual, the weekend had been spent shopping, shopping and more shopping. The wives were really in the grove and seeing the trollies pile up with expensive items that we would never eat was bringing us out in a cold sweat. Surely the bill cant be that much! Anyway adding another couple of years until we could now retire. we planned a visit to our local Papa John’s.

We opted for the chicken club which is always a good combo. We went for the thin crust which was pretty good. The chicken was Succulent breast meat with a rich and smokey chargrilled flavour and the bacon was Smoked back bacon cooked to crisp perfection. It was all good and we were happy again, A good choice we would say.

Pizza Express Sloppy Giuseppe Pizza Review

The lads were on the pizza trail again as the wives had been cooking up a storm in the kitchen but unfortunately super noodles and sausages or alphabet spaghetti from a tin wasn’t good enough for us.

Pizza express here we come. We arrived at the restaurant and was meet by the normal friendly service you come to expect from Pizza Express. We opted for the Sloppy Giuseppe and it was served hot and fresh. We had the Romana base which was ace and the cheese was top quality in our opinion.

The main act was the spiced beef which was hot and kicking and blended well with the peppers and onions. We enjoyed it immensely and though a little pricey compared to some outlets we felt we deserved it. A nice pizza served in an upmarket atmosphere.

The lads were enjoying the weekend despite the best efforts of our other halfs… We’d seen an advert on telly for a subway with burnt ends and remembered papa johns did a pizza one for a while, and so a quick check later and “it’s back” ! .. logo greeted us.

Off the to our local papas to see if it still as good. We opted for the original base and it was OK, no compliant Now the star of the show was the burnt ends and man they were ace.

Full of flavour and a good texture, complimented by the onions we were in heaven . the cola BBQ sauce was OK-ish but it didn’t matter as this is now on our top 10 pizza list. A golden buzzer straight through for this one!

The Push for Healthier Eating at Papa John’s

The Push for Healthier Eating at Papa John’s

The Push for Healthier Eating at Papa John’sPapa Johns has been hard at work pushing for healthier ingredients in its pizzas and continues to emphasise its commitment to superior food quality. It has recently, revamped its advertising campaigns, both traditional and digital to more effectively communicate with its customers.

Papa John’s is one of a number of global fast-food chains in the UK to push for healthier ingredients and, in the process, to remove artificial ingredients and additives. These actions are making it easier for consumers who are more health-conscious, particularly on their consumption of artificial ingredients, sodium, and fats including cholesterol.

The pizza chain’s push for healthier pizzas ramped up in June when it released its Greek Pizza, a pizza that is filled with more vegetables as well as a lower fat and sodium content. Customers have expressed their satisfaction which has further encouraged the chain to introduce more healthy fare.

Now, Papa John’s Lighter Choices Menu boasts a selection of choices including Chicken and veggie, Mediterranean Veggie, and Grilled Chicken & Canadian Bacon. According to the chain’s Chief Marketing Officer, Bob Kraut, these choices do not contain processed, low calorie ingredients.

The replacement of artificial ingredients with natural and organic ones is a costly endeavour. This is because the healthier ingredients cost more than their artificial counterparts, but Papa John’s commitment to superior quality has made it possible.

As a customer, you still have the responsibility to look out for your own intake, including calories, consumption of fats, sodium, and artificial ingredients. Papa John’s may have introduced healthier Lighter Choices, but you will still find more than a few indulgent ones as well. You must make deliberate choices when ordering and eating your pizza, especially when you are a regular patron.

A few tips include:

  • Order the smaller pies since they have smaller slices and, therefore, fewer calories.
  • Share your pizza with a friend to prevent overindulging
  • Select a pizza with more vegetables than meats
  • Pick a pie with red sauce as opposed to creamy or BBQ

At the end of the day, you have the final responsibility for your health; you can still enjoy a pizza, but be conscious about what you eat with each visit.

Domino’s ‘22 Service’ Started with a Train Delivery

Domino’s ‘22 Service’ Started with a Train Delivery

Domino’s ‘22 Service’ Started with a Train Delivery Pizza on a busThe unconventional idea of delivering pizzas to bus stops began with a delivery made to a hungry passenger travelling in April 2016. DJ Artwork was on a 5-hour trip from Sheffield to Glasgow but missed his meal and forgot to pack some food for the journey.

Because we live in an age where social media can be (and is) used for a wide range of purposes, he asked his Twitter followers for help to solve his issue; one of them advised that he should order a Domino’s Pizza and have it delivered to his train.

The rest of the story made company history, with DJ Artwork’s Hawaiian pizza being delivered to the Darlington station. Fans of the pizza chain have since called it a legendary move and a testament to the chain’s dedication to satisfying the pizza cravings of its customers anytime and anywhere.

While the train delivery was still making news, the pizza chain wanted to sustain the momentum by implementing a trial program:  a new delivery service with a specific bus route. According to Domino’s Blackpool Operations Director, David Woods, the company likes a challenge so after the successful train delivery – it wanted to take it a step further by adding the bus delivery service.

Known as the ‘Catch 22 service’, or ‘22 Service’, the Customers along the route that links Blackpool in the South Shore with the town centre as well as Claremont, Bispalm, and Cleavley, Blackpool & Flyde College’s Bispham campus, and Clifton Retail Park can avail of it.

Aaron Ryder had the distinction of being to first person to order a pizza while on a bus and receiving it at a bus station.  According to Ryder, he was on the way to his lunchtime work shift when the driver announced the 22 Service.  He ordered a Mighty meat pizza on his phone and it was ready at the designated bus stop.

South Carolina BBQ Pizza from Pizza Hut Review

Pulled Pork, Ham, Crispy Bacon, Sweetcorn, BBQ Sauce with a South Carolina BBQ Drizzle.

Pizza Hut South Carolina BBQ Pizza Review
The lads were looking forward to the onset of summer and so a BBQ pizza was the ideal choice to cheer us up. We had recently reviewed the domino’s BBQ, so we were hoping for a another good feast.

The Pizza Hut one was a more exotic combo than the classic version. We opted for the pan base and it was well cooked and nice and thick. The pizza looked “busy” but that’s never a bad thing as thinly topped offerings can be a let down. The pulled pork was a little chewy but had a good flavour. We are not fans of sweetcorn on pizza but it was not too prominent.

The bacon was a little too crispy for our liking though and the South Carolina BBQ drizzle was a nice touch, but seemed “lost” in the mix. Overall not too bad, but we have better. We took some home for the wives to earn a few brownie points.
