The White Cheezy Pizza Review from Marco’s Pizza

The White Cheezy Pizza Review from Marco's Pizza Review from Marco's

The White Cheezy Pizza from Marco’s Pizza Review

What they say
Bacon, onions, sliced tomatoes, garlic Parmesan sauce and our signature three cheeses, plus feta. Our dough is made in-store daily from spring wheat flour, specially filtered water and high-quality yeast. Just when you thought our dough and sauce couldn’t be topped, let us introduce you to our cheese. Actually, make that our cheeses. Because every Marco’s pizza is crafted with a combination of three cheeses.

What we say
The White Cheezy is something different and lads appreciate a novel pizza combo. The pizza looks brilliant although ours seemed a little too toasted on top ,but not to a great extent. The base was fresh tasting and the thick crust we ordered had risen to a fair degree with a crispy crust.

The Garlic Parmesan sauce was very buttery and though we liked it, it might put some people off as it seems almost too buttery, but it works for us, though the Parmesan seemed to be missing in action, probably being overwhelmed by the other cheeses. The three cheese combination is apparently a secret mix, “mysterious” they say ! We reckon it’s sharp cheddar and mozzarella / Parmesan. To be honest we don’t know for sure, but what we do know is that it is thick, gooey and stringy and tastes ace. The bacon topping was in small pieces with a deep salty, smoky taste.

We were not keen on the fact that they slice the tomatoes, looks great, but when the pizza is overcooked a bit they can develop tough skins (as ours was), chunky chopped tomatoes are sometimes best. A sprinkling of onions finished off the main toppings that contrasted well with the cheese. Then some feta cheese bits topped things off and the salty, tangy flavor goes well with the other ingredients. A nice pizza combo and one that we would order again.

A Thumbs up from The Pizza Lads.

Santa Fe Chicken Pizza Review from California Pizza Kitchen

Santa Fe Chicken Pizza Review from California Pizza Kitchen

Santa Fe Chicken Pizza Review – California Pizza Kitchen

What they say
First introduced in 1987 and last available nearly 20 years ago, the Santa Fe Chicken Pizza features CPK’s hand-tossed dough topped with chicken breast marinated in lime and herbs, red onions and Monterey Jack, plus fresh cilantro, sour cream, smashed avocado and homemade roasted tomato salsa.

What we say
The lads had heard that CPK had reintroduced an old favorite from long before our time so now we get to sample and review it for real for you. Now we ask ourselves why it was dropped in the first place ? Was it old fashioned or have tastes changed ? Looking at the toppings mix in fact it looks well suited to modern tastes and has an air of healthiness about it. So it was probably ahead of its time before.

Anyway the important part. the taste test…!

The Base was classic CPK with nicely browned edges, crisp and light and fresh tasting. The roasted tomato salsa was rustic with subtle garlic, lime undertone. The Monterey Jack / Mozzarella mix was deeply delicious. Chicken breast marinated in lime was generously spread in bitesize strips and the chicken was tender and the lime and herbs gave it a tangy twist. It was topped off the delicate rings of red onion and topped off with fresh, citrusy cilantro. Served with a dash of sour cream and smashed avocado.

All in all a very different pizza and very refreshing with a multitude of complementing toppings to create a zingy offering. A winner and we welcome it back

Meat Primo Pizza Sbarro Review

What they say

Calling all meat lovers! The Meat Primo Pizza boasts all of the meat you could ever want on a pizza. Meatballs, Italian sausage, pepperoni and ham on top of the tomato sauce you love. Get this tasty pizza delivered to you today. Order now and get your eat on. We have so many locations to choose from making it easier than ever for your tastebuds to be satisfied.

What we say
The lads are always interested in finding that perfect classic NY style pizza and Sbarro apparently since 1956 have been serving this, so we decided to review the Meat Primo Pizza.

It looked awesome when we got our hands on one. Topping to base ratio was very favorable and the combination of the meats, cheese and tomato created the perfect look.

So onto the moment of truth, the taste test. Base was light and crispy at the edges with nice browning, and was soft and succulent in the middle where it matters, taste wise it was fresh and not too doughy. The hand-crushed tomato sauce was also a fine quality one, with a subtle hint of sweet and herbiness. Lashings of Mozza was provided, quite a greasy but lush variety with enough stringiness for the lads. The Italian sausage was a standout with a meaty fennel bite, lovely.

On the other hand the Ham disappointed with a processed look and a lack of any standout taste. The pepperoni though was a return to form, fairly thinly sliced and almost crispy in places but with a bold, spicy flavor and slight smokiness. So all in all a really authentic NY style pizza with apart from the Ham a standout array of toppings

The Festive One Pizza Review from Domino’s Pizza

The Festive One Pizza Review from Domino's Festive Pizza Review

The Festive One, Domino’s, Festive Pizza Review

What they say
The Festive One packs a punch with classic Christmas flavours including succulent, perfectly cooked turkey breast marinated in aromatic sage and onion, traditional Cumberland sausage, and crispy bacon to give you a taste of the top trimmings.

This limited-edition pizza comes on our hand-stretched, fresh dough with signature vine-ripened tomato sauce and is generously sprinkled with 100% mozzarella cheese.

What we say
The lads were looking forward to Christmas and the wives were busy spending our money and all was well with the world. Ted had suggested to his other half that a pizza on the big day was a good idea, sadly his other half was not so keen and with serious earache for his trouble he met up with Bill for a private Christmas pizza lunch to sample the new “Festive One” Pizza from Domino’s. So gimmicky pizzas are sometimes pretty dire, so our hopes were not sky high for The Festive One.

The pizza looks fairly good, nicely toasted on top and the classic base had light crispy edges well browned as well, with fresh tasting dough. The Festive One we had was quite well endowed with cheese, no half measures here, and it was soft and chewy with just the right amount of stringiness. Tomato sauce was the usual Domino’s fare, no disappointments but no shocks either.

So the “christmassy” part of the pizza is the Turkey. Now the lads would say that this would be the last topping we would ever order, it just doesn’t really quite work here either. It’s OK and fairly tasteless really which some would say is a blessing, and the sage and onion stuffing flavour at least gives it some go. The Cumberland sausage was perfectly good, meaty and juicy. Onions and crispy bacon finished it off, both of which were fine. So all in all, a gimmicky pizza but not one for the lads.

Crazy Calzony Pepperoni Pizza Review from Little Caesars

Crazy Calzony Pepperoni Pizza Review from Little Caesars

Crazy Calzony Pepperoni, Large 8 Slices Review.

What they say
Pepperoni pizza with a Parmesan and buttery-tasting, Calzone like crust filled with Garlic White Sauce, Cheese and Julienne Pepperoni. Plus Crazy Sauce

What we say
The lads had heard about the crazy Calzone and thought our opinion was needed as it’s appearance was dividing the nation. We got this delivered and it arrived pretty quickly and most importantly still hot.

It looks a bit of a mess, and we wondered if the delivery guy had flipped the car but no apparently that’s the way it is supposed to be. Like a normal pizza scrunched up at four points!

It’s big though and will certainly satisfy most appetites. The crust was quite well done but not hard and was a bit more buttery tasting than normal. The garlic white sauce was a welcome change to the normal tomato sauce but got lost in the profusion of cheese and wasn’t very garlicky strong but quite salty.

Cheese as mentioned above was very thickly applied and was oozing out the top and edges, with the perfect combination of stringiness and chewiness.

The Julienne Pepperoni sounds exotic but don’t get too excited; it’s just cut into strips instead of being left round. Having said that, it was decent with a meaty, moist, spicy tones that we all love. A few normal round pepperonis were sprinkled over the top and supplied with the usual little pot of crazy sauce for dipping.

So this is difficult, it’s not Calzone and doesn’t have the amount of toppings or variety you would want in a Calzone. It’s a very cheesy pizza with a novel twist but the lads thought it was a good effort and we enjoyed it without being blown away.

Three from five thumbs up from The Pizza Lads.

DILLON JAMES Pizza Review from MOD Pizza

DILLON JAMES Pizza Review from MOD Pizza, DILLON JAMES Review

DILLON JAMES Pizza Review from MOD Pizzas

What they say
DILLON JAMES – Mozzarella, asiago, fresh chopped basil, garlic, sliced tomatoes, red sauce

What we say
The lads visited the mecca of pizza outlets, maybe that’s pushing it a bit but MOD is an excellent pizza maker. It’s a no fuss menu and really straightforward to order a standard option or create your own and you watch it being constructed before your eyes and you can even add any toppings you want at no extra cost, which is a dangerous thing to confront the lads with so we stuck to the standard option.

Now the thing is that the names of the pizzas are totally random, were guessing the person who thought of the combo first? but we don’t know.

We went for the Dillon James standard as it comes, no extra Dillons for the lads lol. The pizza was literally in front of us hot and fresh within 10 minutes, it looked unfussy but with nicely toasted edge crusts and cheese. The base is fairly thin and pretty crispy so if you like soft doughy bases you may be out of luck. The red sauce was indeed red and tomato-y. Mozza and asiago were slightly unevenly spread but generous and the stringiness factor was spot on.

With the asiago adding a nuttier and creamier taste than standard mozza. Then it was a bit of basil adding a peppery flavour and finished with some garlic and sliced tomato. It was all very fresh tasting and for really a basic margherita style pizza it was very nice. The Dollar cost was low as well . Obviously we would really have liked to have some additional toppings ourselves, maybe the sausage, but then it wouldn’t be a Dillon James would it.

Good pizza, good price, quick service.

DEEP DEEP DISH CHEESE Pizza review from Little Caesars

What they say
Large Detroit style deep dish pizza with mozzarella and Muenster cheese and vine-ripened California crushed tomato sauce.

What we say
The lads were touring America and dropped into a little Caesars for a light bite. We decided to keep it simple and this can often result in the best tasting pizzas uncluttered with widely varying flavors.

What can be more straightforward than a bog standard cheese and tomato, plain Margarita pizza? It looked excellent with mountains of toasty browned cheese. We did go for the deep deep dish base which is always pretty amazing and really fills us up, it had a buttery, biscuit like taste with nicely browned edges.

The tomato sauce was lovely, freshly made and with a herby and spicy kick. The cheese is a mix of mozzarella and Muenster which again was lovely and fresh with a very mild flavor and smooth, soft texture with a lovely gooey stringiness.

Simple pizza, very lovely.

Little Caesar’s DEEP! DEEP! DISH 3 MEAT TREAT

What they say
DEEP!DEEP!™ DISH 3 MEAT TREAT® – Large Detroit-style deep dish pizza with Pepperoni, Italian Sausage and Bacon. CHEESE is 100% Mozzarella & Muenster. DOUGH made fresh daily at every store. SAUCE is made from vine-ripened tomatoes.

What we say
The lads were on a tour of the US of A and we had always dreamed of taste testing a little Caesar’s pizza which are one of biggest and best loved chains. Coming from England we were surprised at the supremely cheap price compared to what we were used to. The menu choice was excellent but set piece offerings were more simple topping wise than back home.

But this is a plus as anyone who follows us knows we think that unfussy simplicity is best. Anyway onto the pizza, we had the DEEP!DEEP!™ DISH 3 MEAT TREAT®. It looked a real treat, And wow the base was awesome, nice and thick but crispy and light with a fresh taste of newly prepared dough. Edges browned to perfection as well. The sauce was thickly spread and had a sweet tanginess.

Cheese was plentiful, perfectly browned and had a good stringiness/gooey-ness factor. The meat toppings were piled on and the pepperoni was punchy and tender, Italian sausage was lovely with a garlicky fennel taste and the meat was lean and juicy. The bacon was not to our taste though, English bacon is somewhat different to American and i guess we were not used to the slight fattiness of the meat. Having said that it really created a fine combo altogether. A fantastic pizza and one we would highly recommend

Vegi Supreme Pizza from Domino’s

Vegi Supreme Pizza Review

What they say
Onions, green and red peppers, sweetcorn, mushrooms, tomatoes, classic crust.

What we say
The lads are looking to do their bit for Global warming (SAVING it we hasten to add), so as is the way a veggie option would be our contribution. We Are not big fans of meat free pizzas but we are nothing if not adaptable.

We made a collection on this occasion and had a bit of wait while an endless stream of delivery drivers made their collections but it was the weekend. Anyway when we got it home it was all fine and hot. It looked fairly well topped with lots of vegetables and was nice and colourful. Base was the classic, fairly sloppy but too doughy at the edge crusts.

Tomato sauce was very liberally spread (not sure if the machine was broken?, if they use a machine or we are guessing it was hand spread and the the cooks were a bit busy and careless) Any how, it was a bit too sweet, perhaps because of the amount? On the other hand the cheese machine/ person was rationing the cheese amount and it was a bit lacking in that department. Onto the veg, Onions were fine, sweet and mild, the pepper mix was a combination of sweet and mildly bitter tastes, but juicy.

Sweet Corn is pizza no no for the lads . Mushrooms were fresh tasting and plentiful. And chunky tomato pieces finished things off. On the whole we did like it in spite of the above criticisms and would recommended it to non meat lovers.

Garlic Chicken Bacon Aioli Pizza from Domino's Review Pizza Domino's

Garlic Chicken Bacon Aioli Pizza Review

What they say
Succulent chicken, crispy rasher bacon, spinach & red onion, served on a zesty garlic & pizza sauce base, topped with a Garlic Parmesan Aioli

What we say
The lads are not big garlic fans so you ask why would we review a pretty garlicky pizza, But we are here to serve and a lot of folks like garlic, so here we go.

The Pizza took a while to be delivered and was only slightly warm but hey that’s life and as with most pizza , hot or cold they are still the best. It looked very good with a good base/topping ratio.

The base was the usual high Domino standard and had a nice crust and airy dough.Zesty Garlic sauce was a pungent sauce with the deep depth of garlic flavor and the tang of lemons and was very refreshing. Mozzarella was thickly topped and had a lovely gooey texture. The chicken was indeed succulent and was browned to perfection with large irregular chucks which the lads thought was certainly unprocessed unlike some others we have eaten.

Crispy bacon rashers were once again nice big pieces with a subtle taste. Spinach was well spinach and was a bit bitter .Red onion always adds to any pizza and goes particularly well with Garlic for some reason. It was all finished off with Garlic Parmesan Aioli and no we don’t know what aioli is either but we reckon it is a mayo based garlic dizzle and it certainly looks that way.

Did we like this combo , yes more than we suspected, bacon and chicken was magic the only topping we would lose would be the spinach.. Nice Stuff

Crust Supreme from Crust Pizza Review

What they say
Smoked Ham, Pepperoni, Italian Sausage, Mushrooms, Fresh Capsicum, Spanish Onions, Pineapple & Kalamata Olives on a Tomato base (All pizzas topped with 100% Australian Mozzarella cheese)

What we say
The lads were browsing the crust menu and wanted to try one of the favourites from the menu and the supreme fitted the bill perfectly. It looked and smelt wonderful and was good and hot.

The base was up to the usual high standard with a perfectly browned crust edge and a decent almost edge to edge topping coverage.Crust tomato sauce was rich and sweet, but the lads thought BBQ sauce may have been a better option, however that’s just an opinion. Mozzarella was fairly thick and had that melty cheese-pull action.

The Smoked ham had a deep smoked taste and tender texture. Pepperoni was rich and spicy, the Italian Sausage had an almost licorice-like flavour with a little earthiness and subtle meatiness, lovely. Mushrooms are always a welcome addition to any pizza. A fruity sweet taste was added by the capsium and the onions as always liven up any pizza.

Then we have to address the pineapple, now the lads are fans of pineapple on pizza but others are really against it, however on this occasion we were not sure it fitted in with the other ingredients, it was fresh and sharp tasting but did it fit, we say not. Finished off with Kalamata Olives which were sweet and fruity.

All in all we were not over keen on this combo but it was nice enough.

Domino’s Beef & Onion Pizza Review

What they say
Seasoned ground beef, slices of red onion & mozzarella cheese, served on a BBQ sauce base.

What we say
The lads were a bit short on cash, Australia has quite a high cost of living and so for this review we were reviewing a pizza from the so called value range, they tend to be fairly simple so the review will be quite brief. We collected this one and didn’t have to wait long. It looked a bit overcooked ,particularly on the crust edges, but it wasn’t too bad. Usual thinnish and crispyish base was light and airy.

Domino’s BBQ sauce is sweet and rich with hints of Paprika, Garlic and Spices, nice classic stuff. Mozzarella was thick and toasted well on top (perhaps due to the slight overcooking but really nothing tastes better than toasted cheese in the lads opinion). Then it’s Seasoned ground beef, slices of red onion, and who can complain, beef and onion just work together like a dream. So we liked the simplicity of the offering and as they say sometimes less is more!

Rustica Sofia Pizza from Zizzi, Rustica Sofia Pizza Review, Zizzi

Rustica Sofia Pizza Review, Zizzi

What they say
Spicy roasted chicken, pepperoni, crumbled chorizo sausage, mozzarella & sliced roquito peppers.

What we say
The lads always believe that Zizzi offers the best rustic (Oval shaped, hand stretched) pizzas at an affordable price with the best true Italian taste to be had outside of Italy.

It was served promptly and looked lovely. Slightly underwhelming in the topping/base ratio. The base itself was thinnish and quite sourdoughy (if such a word exists) but with a fantastic taste. Tomato sauce was quite sparing in places though a good amount of Mozzarella cheese more than satisfied. The Spicy roasted chicken is a novel pizza topping and we believe it contained some chillies and garlic, but it was tender, nicely browned and the pieces were quite chunky. Pepperoni was also deeply spicy and oozing taste.More high seasoning was in evidence with the crumbled chorizo sausage, meaty and juicy.

All topped off with some more mozzarella & sliced roquito peppers which were Hot, sweet, distinctly flavoured and full of crunch. So all in all perhaps we may have seemed slightly critical but it’s all about how it works as a combo that matters and this pizza really scores highly for us. A spicy treat.

Domino’s Fire Breather Pizza Review

What they say
Domino’s pepperoni, smokey leg ham, seasoned ground beef, fiery jalapenos, tomato & sliced red onion with a spicy hit of chilli flakes

What we say
The lads are very partial to a spicy hot pizza so how could we miss a fire breather, the name promises so much, so will it match up to our expectations? Ordered and turned up within a short time, and it looked and smelt pretty good with a good topping to base ratio. Base was fairly thin and crispy and nicely browned on the edges.

We had the standard tomato sauce which was as always very acceptable, quite rich and fresh tasting. Mozzarella was fairly liberally applied and had that gooey stringiness that the lads love. Pepperoni started the assault on our tongues and as always was the reliable classic hot stuff.

The smoky leg ham was of course not hot but had a deep smoked taste that really contrasted well with the other powerful toppings and was very meaty. Seasoned ground beef was tender and juicy and herby. The fiery jalapenos were the real start of the onslaught on our senses, plenty of them as well. Tomatoes were providing some relief from the heat. Red onion as always adds to any pizza and the pieces were quite large. It was all topped with the chilli flakes which really blew our minds, man they were hot. So our verdict, well with the addition of chilli flakes virtually any pizza could be turned into a fire breather, but the combo on offer was very good and it all worked well.

Domino’s BBQ Meats Deluxe Review

What they say
Smokey Aussie beef brisket, paired with tender Peking duck, seasoned chicken, pepperoni & sliced red onion, all on a BBQ sauce base, topped with Hickory BBQ sauce & rocket garnish

What we say
The lads are today reviewing one of the new Domino’s super premium range of pizzas, BBQ meats deluxe has that Aussie twist which we love . Delivery service was a little slow but acceptable.

The pizza itself looked very appetising, Nice crust and fairly thin base but it was perhaps the heavily loaded toppings that meant we had to eat it pretty carefully, the taste was ace. BBQ sauce was sweet and tangy and certainly left a lasting impression on our taste buds. The mozzarella was literally oozing and was marvellous. Hogan’s Ghost ,the Western Australian beef brisket was tender and bursting with flavour and contrasted wonderfully with the Peking duck with it’s subtle spice, again we couldn’t complain and it was juicy! We were not too sure about the seasoned chicken, it was fine in and of itself but we thought it was a bit of a stretch to match it with beef and duck.

However it just about pulled it off in our opinion. And then there was the pepperoni, again a fairly odd combo choice and we felt it didn’t mix well with the other toppings. All finished off with more BBQ sauce and sprinkle of rocket.

Verdict
Some awesome toppings mixed with others that didn’t fit! We did like it having said that as the beef and duck were more prominent in the crucial taste test.
