Jasper Pizza from MOD Pizza
Jasper Pizza from MOD Pizza Review
What they say
Mozzarella, mushrooms, spicy chicken sausage, red sauce.
What we say
The lads were being taken out for the upcoming fathers day by our respective kids, we decided to go to MOD pizza as it’s been off our radar for a while but is a bit more upmarket than some joints.
Of course we wanted to review a combo that is new to us so we opted for the Jasper pizza (as it comes off the menu, though we realize we could have added extra toppings). They like to keep things simple at MOD, so working on the basis that less is more here we go. We opted for thin crust pizzas and when they had been popped in the open mouthed oven to cook and delivered to our table they looked really good, simple yet striking, with a toasted cheese sheen that few can imitate.
The base was quite crisp but not crunchy, with a satisfying chewiness inside. The red sauce is made from fresh vine-ripened California tomatoes they say with some Italian style seasoning’s and it was good though not outstanding, but they hadn’t over applied at least. The cheese was standard mozzarella but it stringed nicely, and had toasted beautifully. The mushrooms had been sliced semi thickly and had retained their juiciness. The spicy chicken sausages are an Italian classic and have a mild chicken taste but with the added zing of spices and are scattered in tender toasted bite size chunks. It was a simple combo but it just worked with the balance of flavors in every bite.
A good pizza. A thumbs up from The Pizza Lads
