Howie Special Pizza from Hungry Howie’s
Howie Special Pizza from Hungry Howie’s Review
What they say
Pepperoni, ham, mushrooms, red onions, green peppers & mozzarella cheese and pizza sauce on a golden buttered and Parmesan encrusted Flavored Crust® with a cheesy explosion of flavor.
What we say
The lads had enjoyed the last pizza we had from Howies, particularly the flavored crust and the price was pretty reasonable so we thought we would try a different pizza / base combo this time.
This time we went for the Howie Special on a Butter Cheese base, sounds good and it looked like a mighty pizza when we got our hands on it, though the toppings had been heaped up in the middle and it was bare round the edges (just the way they do it we believe, so the flavored crust can be savored in all its glory) but nothing we couldn’t fix ourselves.
As mentioned, topping to base ratio was good and looks wise passed the test for us. The base was our first priority and it was a good thickness, quite doughy and yeasty with a chewy texture, but we like that and the Butter Cheese is really flavourful and we could really taste the buttery-ness with the sharp tang of the astigeo cheese. The sauce was the standard pizza variety and was pretty sweet. Gooey cheese was plentiful and decent. Reasonable quality pepperoni sliced in quite large sizes was good if a little salty and greasy. Ham was skinny sliced and fine. On top of this was the heap of mushrooms, red onions, green peppers, no holding back on the portion sizes. An enjoyable pie with an awesome base and reasonable if not unusual combo of toppings.
Good price as well. A thumbs up from The Pizza Lads
