Honolulu Hawaiian Pizza from Domino’s
Honolulu Hawaiian Pizza from Domino’s Review
What they say
We make the original Hawaiian pizza even better in our Honolulu Hawaiian pizza, which features traditional ham and pineapple as well as smoked Canadian bacon, roasted peppers, mozzarella, and provolone cheese. A classic pairing of smoky leg ham & sweet pineapple pieces on a cheesy Parmesan Asiago crust with marinara sauce.
What we say
The lads are not going to bring up the boring debate on having pineapple on pizza, it works and tastes lush, just get over it. Rant over lol.
This pizza is part of the upmarket specialty range with premium toppings etc. Looks wise nobody could complain and it smells divine with the sweet and savory. Base to topping ratio was passable. The base was the cheesy Parmesan Asiago crust which was bursting with flavor, just the right thickness dough and not too thin, the edges are amazing. Marinara sauce was all good and nothing else we can think of, would go so well with this sweet and savory combo.
The mix of mozzarella and provolone cheeses is a good marriage with the rich and salty flavor of the provolone shining through. The traditional ham is cut into reasonably sized squares and the edges of the pieces had that slight toastiness, flavor wise it was deep and rich. Pineapple was not bad, not fresh of course but fine all the same.
The letdown was the smoked Canadian bacon which was a bit sloppy and wet when we would have liked it a bit crispy, taste wise it was okay. It was finished off with roasted peppers of the red and yellow variety, nice and juicy and they contrasted well with the pineapple. A decent combo especially the base but let down by the bacon which was a shame, so sad to say a thumbs down from the lads.
