Hawaiian Pizza from Donatos
Hawaiian Pizza Review from Donatos
What they say
Shaved ham, pineapple, sliced almonds, cinnamon, smoked Provolone. Hand Tossed base. Our Edge to Edge promise. Your Donatos pizza is loaded Edge to Edge with toppings, so it’s consistently delicious, bite after savory bite. Award winning dough. We’ve used the same recipe for 50 years (it’s the best we’ve ever seen) baked to golden perfection and sprinkled with cornmeal for extra crispness.
What we say
Donatos Hawaiian Pizza is the subject of our review today. We are partial to Hawaiian pizza and have done our fair share of reviews of them so how does this fare? The pizza arrived promptly and although the edge to edge promise was fulfilled we felt the topping ratio was not overly generous. It looked appealing apart from that. The base was the standard hand tossed thin crust which is crispy and good, with a taste of cornmeal and some saltiness.
The Red sauce was not overly generous on this occasion and so the pizza was a bit dry, and tasted somehow bland. The Smoked provolone cheese was tasty as usual with a hickory smoky-ness but again not overly applied. Shaved ham was nice with an almost bacon-like taste and in places had curled and crisped up wonderfully. Pineapple was in small bite chunks with a sharp tang. Now the almonds on a pizza is a new one for us and we weren’t impressed though they had a earthy sweetness the unusual texture was alien on a pizza for the lads, and lastly the cinnamon overpowered all the other flavors for us and the combo we have to say sucked. sorry but a thumbs down from the Pizza Lads
