The Lads on tour down under, rocked up in New Zealand to try Sal’s Authentic NY Pizza offerings. This chain is the real deal, simple quality toppings just like the Lads believe is the best way to go. We opted for the Free Range Italian Sausage, it was cooked to perfection and still hot when we got our hands on it.
The base was unlike most chain stores for not being soft and slightly sloppy as it was very crisp with a very light feel but chewy in a way. The sauce was delicious, rich and sweet with almost a Marinara Sauce consistency ,thickly spread just as we like it. Mozzarella was among the best we have tasted, creamy and gooey with a nutty bite.
The main show is of course the Italian sausage with a rich meaty taste, hints of fennel perhaps and maybe even basil but whatever there was a good topping to base ratio on this pizza. A great simple pizza without any fussiness and all the better for it!
