Chicken Club Pizza from Papa John’s Review

You must try the Papa’s flavour filled take on an American diner favourite. The Chicken Club Pizza features chargrilled chicken, stacks of bacon and sliced onions with chunks of freshly diced tomatoes for an extra splash of colour and taste.

Papa John’s Chicken Club Pizza Review
The lads were gagging for a pizza as usual, the weekend had been spent shopping, shopping and more shopping. The wives were really in the grove and seeing the trollies pile up with expensive items that we would never eat was bringing us out in a cold sweat. Surely the bill cant be that much! Anyway adding another couple of years until we could now retire. we planned a visit to our local Papa John’s.

We opted for the chicken club which is always a good combo. We went for the thin crust which was pretty good. The chicken was Succulent breast meat with a rich and smokey chargrilled flavour and the bacon was Smoked back bacon cooked to crisp perfection. It was all good and we were happy again, A good choice we would say.

A thumbs up from The Pizza Lads

Hot spiced beef, green pepper, red onion, mozzarella and tomato

Pizza Express Sloppy Giuseppe Pizza Review

The lads were on the pizza trail again as the wives had been cooking up a storm in the kitchen but unfortunately super noodles and sausages or alphabet spaghetti from a tin wasn’t good enough for us.

Pizza express here we come. We arrived at the restaurant and was meet by the normal friendly service you come to expect from Pizza Express. We opted for the Sloppy Giuseppe and it was served hot and fresh. We had the Romana base which was ace and the cheese was top quality in our opinion.

The main act was the spiced beef which was hot and kicking and blended well with the peppers and onions. We enjoyed it immensely and though a little pricey compared to some outlets we felt we deserved it. A nice pizza served in an upmarket atmosphere.

A1 thumbs up from The Pizza Lads, thank you Pizza Express….

Melt-in-the-mouth chunks of brisket burnt ends sliced from slow-smoked beef brisket, plus delicious crispy onions and bacon, drizzled with a sweet Cola BBQ sauce.

Papa John’s BBQ Beef Brisket Pizza Review
The lads were enjoying the weekend despite the best efforts of our other halfs… We’d seen an advert on telly for a subway with burnt ends and remembered papa johns did a pizza one for a while, and so a quick check later and “it’s back” ! .. logo greeted us.

Off the to our local papas to see if it still as good. We opted for the original base and it was OK, no compliant Now the star of the show was the burnt ends and man they were ace.

Full of flavour and a good texture, complimented by the onions we were in heaven . the cola BBQ sauce was OK-ish but it didn’t matter as this is now on our top 10 pizza list. A golden buzzer straight through for this one!

The Meateor Pizza from Domino’s Review

A light portion of BBQ sauce topped with pork meatballs, ground beef, sausage, pepperoni, smoky bacon.

Domino’s Meateor Pizza Review
The lads had made it through another week, after endless grief during the 9 to 5 grind at work and the 5.30-11 earache at home, we thought we’d better have our Friday night treat pizza. So slipping out of our houses while the wives weren’t looking we visited our local Domino’s.

We thought we’d take pot luck so Ted closed his eyes and eventually managed to point to a pizza on the menu. A bowl of Fresh Rocket Leaves wasn’t going to satisfy, so Meateor it was and when our pizza arrived we looked well pleased. We had gone for the classic crust which tasted fresh and the toppings were meaty good.

A blowout of pork with a bit of beef, bill was taken with the pork meatballs, which were the best he’d tasted he said. The sausage and bacon were a pleasant surprise as well with the quality. All was a splendid feast. Home now to face the music, perhaps we haven’t been missed?

South Carolina BBQ Pizza from Pizza Hut Review

Pulled Pork, Ham, Crispy Bacon, Sweetcorn, BBQ Sauce with a South Carolina BBQ Drizzle.

Pizza Hut South Carolina BBQ Pizza Review
The lads were looking forward to the onset of summer and so a BBQ pizza was the ideal choice to cheer us up. We had recently reviewed the domino’s BBQ, so we were hoping for a another good feast.

The Pizza Hut one was a more exotic combo than the classic version. We opted for the pan base and it was well cooked and nice and thick. The pizza looked “busy” but that’s never a bad thing as thinly topped offerings can be a let down. The pulled pork was a little chewy but had a good flavour. We are not fans of sweetcorn on pizza but it was not too prominent.

The bacon was a little too crispy for our liking though and the South Carolina BBQ drizzle was a nice touch, but seemed “lost” in the mix. Overall not too bad, but we have better. We took some home for the wives to earn a few brownie points.

Tangy BBQ sauce topped with smoky bacon, succulent roast chicken, red onions, green and red peppers

Domino’s Texas BBQ Pizza Review
The lads have had a testing bank holiday weekend, the wives have been moaning about jobs not being done, kids are bored! Arrgh..! So we decided to cheer ourselves up with a visit to  Domino’s and we plumped for the Texas BBQ. We decided to OD on the BBQ by having the BBQ stuffed crust at an extra two pound fifty.

The base was good and we had no complaints there and the chicken really did taste like it had been roasted and mixed with the tender bacon and succulent peppers. We agreed it was a real treat and a classic combo that really hit the spot. The lads went home and magic was instantly over, still i am sure it won’t be long before our next visit.

A classic, thumbs up from The Pizza Lads

The Works Pizza from Papa John’s

The Works Pizza from Papa John's Pizza Review

The Papa said “Give this pizza the works!”, so we took our 100% fresh, never frozen dough and really went to town. We piled on delicious pepperoni, Italian style sausage and ham, then we added even more flavour with fresh baby portobello mushrooms, crunchy green peppers, sliced onions and black Herrera olives.

Papa John’s Works Pizza Review
The lads were a bit Mondayish so what better way to cheers us up than a nice pizza. We opted for the works from Papa John’s, and to give a true review we had it “as is”, Now black olives are not number one on our list of ingredients, but they weren’t bad, a bit more bitter than we would like, but the deluge of other toppings really made this seem less an issue.

The pepperoni was a decent spicy variety and the ham and sausage really piled on that porky pressure. The peppers were a bit too crunchy for our liking, but the base (we had a stuffed crust) was pretty good. So all in all, a lot going on, too much for the lads but some like it this way.

Pizza Express Margherita Pizza Review

We decided to visit our local pizza express for an upmarket treat, we discovered that we were a bit skint so with various lame stories and promises about changing our ways, we ponced some money from the missuses. We opted for the Margherita, a basic option but we didn’t really have enough bunce for much else (note to selves “must get our act together when poncing money”)

Anyway on a serious note, the pizza was A1, the base was light and crispy and the cheese was out of this world, slightly more sauce would have been nice .. so all’s well that ends well .. a real tasty treat

A high five from The Pizza Lads

Ventricina Salami, Jalapeños & Pepper Pearls for a hot & sweet kick. Served with our exclusive chilli oil / large slice / Italian style base.

Domino’s Ardente Pizza Review
A nice looking looking pizza, the cheese was a good appealing toasty shade and the with just a few toppings the taste of the crispy cooked salami wasn’t lost in a pile of cheap toppings for those who like quantity over quality. The sauce was up to domino’s usual competent standards and the peppers and chillies really gave it an exotic boost

Another winner The Pizza Lads agreed…

Chicken Tinga Taco Pizza from Papa John’s

Chicken Tinga Taco Pizza from Papa John's

This delicious Mexican inspired combo loaded with flame-charred pulled chicken and fresh, juicy pineapple chunks, features the warmth of sliced red cayenne chillies, freshly sliced onions and a lively Aji Verde salsa drizzle – on a sauce free base for an authentic taco experience.

Papa John’s Chicken Tinga Taco Pizza Review

A different proposition this as it has a sauce free base, the lads thought this is gonna be dry so we ordered some Irn-Bru to wash it down, however we were pleasantly surprised as the pineapple provided an ample alternative to enable swallowing without a problem, an unusual and lively pizza with a real kick so ask them to hold the chillies if thats not your thing, the chicken was really tasty.

Meat Feast Pizza from Pizza Hut

Meat Feast Pizza from Pizza Hut

Meat Feast Pizza from Pizza Hut Review

The big daddy! Conquer those meat cravings with our mix of pepperoni, ham, beef and chicken.

Pizza Hut Meat Feast Pizza Review
I fancied a good protein fix so I decided to go with the 9” regular pan.

The overall appearance was really appealing and certainly got my taste buds going and the base had a good crisp outer but was soft and fluffy inside and didn’t disappoint.

The topping was generous and we had no complaints there, however I wish it was a little hotter but it was not a problem.

The cheese was as usual a tasty and succulent blend and the combo of the four meats was a good choice with the pepperoni taking centre stage

The ham was a bit bland but added to the texture nicely and the beef had a spicy bite to it as well. I always believe that the pan base is the unsung hero of the range and even though only 9”, it was really quite filling.

So a thumbs up from The Pizza Lads
