What we say
The Lads had heard mention of Hungry Howie’s pizza joints from others, so we made a special trip to try one, the big selling point we were told was the amazing flavored crusts. So that was good enough for us. We opted for the Buffalo Chicken with an onion flavored crust.
We were very impressed by the look of the finished article. It was heaped with toppings almost edge to edge and looked good enough to eat, so we did! The dough base was the real test and we are pleased to report it was awesome, we had the round base and it was a decent thickness with nice browned edges ,the dough was light and fresh tasting and the onion flavor was very nice and it really had a deep Caramelized onion flavor.
The Spicy Buffalo Sauce had an intense rich buttery flavor that was spicy and mildly hot. The Grilled Chicken Breast was cut into reasonable sized chunks, it was succulent and savory. A good helping of Cheddar and Mozzarella Cheese was spread over liberally and we had no complaints ,the cheddar just gives it that extra flavor. Red Onion was just fine and contrasted with the sauce beautifully. So a fairly simple pizza but one that burst with flavor.
Decent ingredients, good topping to base ratio, but on the negative side slightly greasy and bit salty. But the base was the standout and we shall be reviewing the others. Price wise not too expensive.
A thumbs up from The Pizza Lads
